The following is a close up of a twisted Sector Shaft that has not broken......YET!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Below is a picture comparing the VW Sector Shaft and Pitman Arm with the MG-TC Sector Shaft and Pitman Arm.

Aside from the obvious that the VW parts are larger, it should also be considered that the VW parts are made from modern steel and not steel that was salvaged from WW II.

Please note that to use the VW steering box in the MG-TC the Pitman are gets modified. The spur gets removed and one of the holes at the opposite end get removed also. Still the part is much heavier than the MG-TC part. The known area of weakness in the MG-TC part is where it clamps to the Sector Shaft. The VW Sector shaft is 0.346 thick in this area. The MG-TC Sector shaft is 0.280 thick in this area.

Also note that the design of the VW Sector Shaft allows for a bearing surface both above and below the arm.

The primary purpose of making the change is "SAFETY FAST" however there is also an improvement in steering and stability!
