Here it is being used as a "lumber hauler" rather than driving under a "lumber hauler" (see Life Magazine January 10th, 1949 for that story). "SAFETY FAST!" AND PLEASE "Keep yer nose down in da turns!"

Denise McCluggage - in an MG-TC for the first time in many years.
The first thing that Denise said when she got into my car was: "My TC had a wood dash just like this one, but Steve McQueen's had the aluminum." We drove right through downtown Santa Fe then on to a lovely restaurant for dinner. I did offer to let her drive, but she declined. My wife followed us. It was a wonderful evening. Denise can tell so many stories of her travels and experiences. She told one story of visiting my father and taking him on a drive through the Flint Hills, where they met a rancher who took them to the Rockne Memorial. This is located in the middle of nowhere, near Matfield Green, Kansas. Knute Rockne was killed on the spot in the crash of a Folker Tri Motor in 1931 along with several members of the Notre Dame football team. On this particular day Denise was driving a factory owned Jaguar. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
